Together with Touché Sportmarketing, Dirk Kremers – who used to work for PSV and Triple Double – sets up Box to Box, an agency that will focus on producing content for sports organisations and brands in sports. Box to Box has an office in the Home of Fans in the centre of Boxtel, where Touché too has offices. Box to Box also works at SX Eindhoven.
In 2013 Niko Moreno Ruiz and his associate Anton Woldhek launched Touché Sportmarketing: ‘February 2023 will see our tenth anniversary. Freshly graduated we immediately started our own sports marketing agency, supporting sports organisations and brands in the broadest sense at the interface between marketing and communication. Over the past years we developed that into where we stand now. We work with a team of ten across sports. From ABN AMRO Open to Judo Bond Nederland. And with brands active in sports like Matrix Fitness and Swiss Sense.”
Over the past decade Touché surrounded itself with creative entrepreneurs who were hired to produce texts, visuals, videos, photographs, animations, websites and such. ‘Dirk Kremers is one of them ‘, Moreno Ruiz explains. ‘When he started his own business five years ago, we increasingly worked together on projects. At Touché we felt the need for an own content label to tie everything together. We can now make a division in which Touché focuses on marketing and communication on strategy, campaigns, partnerships and events.‘
Concrete Steps
Box to Box is a party with which we ‘can do all the good stuff’. ‘Two years ago already we spoke with Dirk about hiring a designer together because we basically wanted to take the same step. From there we thought about an independent agency with Dirk. This allows Touché to join forces, set up a second agency and for Dirk it is a transition to an agency of his own. Over the past six months we took the concrete steps necessary to position Box to Box in the market.’
After working for PSV, Dirk Kremers accidentally fell into sports marketing at Triple Double sportmarketing. ‘I then proceeded to work as an independent creative. Over the past years I was so fortunate to work for a variety of interesting clients where creative content was always a priority. Examples are developing a corporate style, social media graphics, campaign websites and venue wrappings. I expect that my move to Box to Box will help me grow in breadth and depth. What will be the same, is that I will actively serve sports organisations and brands in sports, but more extensively.’
Combined Teams
The past years has seen a surge in demand for creative content, claims Kremers. ‘We see that our clients feel the need for good and fast service. As allround box to box players we can cover any area in the content field, be it design, video, photography, campaign sites or animation. Touché already did video work, from campaign movies to aftermovies. ‘We will accommodate that part with Box to Box’, Moreno Ruiz adds. ‘For our position in the market it is clear that there is an allround content party now. For campaigns and strategies Touché is again a logical choice. We will be working from the same building in Boxtel, and will make combined teams. We will create a lot of synergy that way. We already hired our first designer, which makes Box to Box Dirk plus one. We have ten people in our Home of Fans who each make a contribution. Gradually a beautiful creative collective emerges that can serve both ends of the sports market.’
Moreno Ruiz goes on: ‘Dirk has made the transition from a one-man band to an agency, can now put a team together and evolve into a director of content. Together with Touché he can now present himself as a more well-rounded professional. Parties like KNSB, Vivianne Miedema, NTFU/Fietssport, RacingNews365, Libéma Open and Matrix Fitness constitute a nice group of clients. There is cross-pollination between the two portfolios. Dirk and we grew up in SX Eindhoven, which commonly works together with many parties. We are grateful that we had a chance to work there and can continue to do so with Box to Box.’
Core Values
Kremers uses football metaphors to explain his motives. ‘With Box to Box we want to have close ball control all over the entire content field. We can help best by being part of the team. That is in line with our core values. We believe in flexibility, in joining the deliberation process, and in teamwork. Box to box players are effective all over the field, preferably in an end-to-end position, are often extensions of trainers and captains, and take the entire team in tow. Without boasting, but mostly by working hard. They are the ones who can making defence-splitting passes, giving clients the chance to head the ball in. Box to Box is for anyone with a sport narrative, from prominent brands to ambitious sports organisations.’
